This infographic was created as an extension of the interview report (found in Writing Samples) assigned in my Introduction to Professional Writing class. The author I interviewed provided advice for writing creatively, which I summarize in this infographic. This class focused on presenting content concisely, and we were also introduced to design and how to relay information in a more visually focused way. We used icons and color to create an infographic that was appealing to the eye and we focused on how to summarize the large amount of information we received for our report into a one page design.
This section explores my experience with logo design. Part One concerns logo design in a class project and Part Two concerns a few logo designs I did outside of class.
Collaborative Branding Re-Design Project
The following Logo Redesign Report explains, in detail, the process by which my classmate and I worked together to create a potential new logo for the Purdue Writing Lab for its 40th anniversary.
The Purdue Writing Lab had decided to use my class, English 309-Computer Aided Publishing, to find a new design for their logo, and to also give us an invaluable educational experience. Sherry was my partner for this project and this report explains how we went through the process of creating our logo through research, trial and error, and many revisions. While it was not this logo that was chosen, our logo went through peer review, and we helped to review other logos. Through this work the class produced a logo, which was chosen by the Writing Lab.

Redesign and Remix
This is a select few pages of a reflection of the project, Revision and Remix, which my English 309 class started as an extension of the logo redesign project.
After we presented our group logo designs to the Purdue Writing Lab administrators, we took their feedback and applied it by work-shopping other groups’ logo designs. This report includes a reflection from our instructor, then our individual thoughts on the project and what it was like to work with a real client. The last couple of pages I include are the logos that my classmates created, followed by my revisions.
The reflection, if the Writing Lab follows through with changing the lab’s logo, will be made available on their website.

Creating and Editing Videos
The following are two videos I created for COM 407-Introduction to New Media. This class centered around utilizing social media professionally so that we would be comfortable using it in whatever careers we go into. This specific assignment focused on students understanding how to design a video from our phones in as aesthetic and effective a way as possible. The first video is the initial “test” of our ability to cut and edit film, while the second video was completed with more care and attention after receiving feedback and advice from the first submission.
I found this video to be a lot of fun to construct. I enjoyed finding music and utilizing video clips to construct a preview of my hometown. However, I am unhappy with a few things about it, primarily the poor quality of the application I used to edit it, as well as the fact that I forgot to keep my phone horizontal while taking some of the videos. Luckily I was able to fix these mistakes in the second video.

This video was taken on a road trip that I took through parts of Indiana. It was a lot of fun to create and I was excited to see how my film creation and editing techniques had improved since the previous assignment.
